CustomsReady Lite — Export Documentation
An automated customs compliance engine — engineered to dynamically generate export documentation and assign HS codes for cross-border e-commerce.
Problem
Cross-border merchants were bogged down manually completing complex customs forms for every international order. The challenge: manual data entry caused massive shipping delays and occasional regulatory non-compliance, leading to held packages and fines.
Architecture & Solution
// System Pipeline
A Remix/TypeScript application deeply integrated into the Shopify admin. It utilizes an internal HS code database to query and suggest classifications based on product taxonomy. A document generation pipeline merges Shopify order data to output compliance-grade, printable forms.
Implementation Decisions
- Taxonomy-driven HS classification — An automated querying system suggests accurate HS codes based on the product category, eliminating manual lookup errors.
- Zero-touch data mapping — Pre-filling forms directly from the Shopify order payload entirely removes manual data entry from the fulfillment workflow.
- Strict format compliance — The PDF generation pipeline strictly enforces CBSA and international format requirements to guarantee customs clearance.
