Problem

B2B merchants relying on external Purchase Order (PO) systems lacked a programmatic bridge to Shopify. The challenge: manual PO tracking created massive reconciliation errors, data drift, and a lack of auditability between the sales platform and the accounting ledger.

Architecture & Solution

The Remix and TypeScript application acts as a bidirectional synchronization layer. Webhooks listen for Shopify order creation and PO updates, keeping statuses mirrored in real-time. An immutable audit log records every status transition for compliance and dispute resolution.

Implementation Decisions

  1. Bidirectional state mirroring — Syncing data both ways (PO → Order and Order → PO) prevents data drift across disconnected enterprise systems.
  2. Immutable transition logging — Maintaining an unalterable audit trail ensures strict compliance and accelerates dispute resolution for high-value B2B orders.
  3. Event-driven webhooks — Real-time webhook architecture eliminates the need for expensive polling, keeping systems perfectly synced.
